Were you at Somerset Skatepark and East Coast Extreme Skatepark over the weekend? We had 2 days of continuous action from our BMX stunt, aggressive inline and skateboard community. The top ten Singaporeans in each discipline from this event now qualify for the 2010 Xtreme Championship, to be held sometime in October this year at the East Coast Extreme Skatepark. That promises to be an even more exciting event, with the event being open to international participation.

Hey everyone the 2010 Youth Olympic Games is just around the corner! As with the 2008 Beijing Olympics, BMX racing, as part of one of the 3 disciplines that make up the Cycling category, will be showcased this coming August. This promises to be an exciting race as competitors from around the world will be competing for the top spots and points on our very own international standard BMX track, designed and built by UCI’s very own Tom Ritzenthaler. Come check out the BMX finals on the 19th of August. MR JOHN HANSON: ‘My son broke his wrists last Saturday afternoon when he fell at the newly opened East Coast Parkway skate park. National Parks Board officer Bernard Lim promptly arranged for the Singapore Civil Defence Force to take him to Changi General Hospital and looked after our younger son until he was picked up. Mr Lim also called me regularly to keep me posted. Accidents happen, but a proactive and caring approach by responsible officers like Mr Lim serves to minimise the impact of mishaps, thus enhancing and preserving a vital sporting outlet for unrestricted use. I also thank the hospital’s Accident & Emergency staff for their prompt and caring attention. As residents in Kuala Lumpur, my wife and I wish to say that visitors to Singapore are assured of being in capable and caring hands. Thank you, Mr Lim.’
Firstly, congratulations for Mr Lim for a job well done. Secondly… the East Coast skatepark just opened! I honestly did not expect an incident so soon. The report doesn’t mention if the kid was wearing wrist guards, but I’ll bet he wasn’t.
